Web design vs. webdesign. Is there any difference?

Here the situation is totally different. In the previous case the users preferred to type the words separately; as far as website and web site are concerned, they prefer to write this query as a single word. It would be logically to assume that this situation is similar to the previous one. But this assumption is wrong. The number of such queries as web site creation and website creation has been almost equal during all the years. The diagrams cross several times (in May 2008, July 2008, September 2008, May 2009, October 2009, December 2009, February 2010, October 2010). But we can see that earlier such query as web site creation used to be a bit more popular than website creation.

So why do users continue using both variants of spelling: webdesign and web design, website ans web site?

New words (neologisms) are quite often misspelled. There is no common rule as to the spelling of the words with “web”. Moreover, there is no common opinion as to what “web” is.
